A Little About Me

Selam, hi, hello friends!

My name is Birukti Tsige, pronounced ‘brick-tea si-gay’—unless you’re habesha and in that case, pronounce it like ብርክቲ ፅጌ. I write young adult coming-of-age, contemporary, and romance fiction—specifically centering thriving Ethiopian/Black characters.

I am twenty-two years old, about to be a college graduate, and (despite what I reassure my parents and tell people at church) have no idea what I want to do for the rest of my life. Let me amend. I know what I want (badly). What I mean is, I don’t know what sustainable, practicable, and health-insurance-guaranteed career path I want. Ah, the woes of being a writer.

I am represented by Jennifer March Soloway of Andrea Brown Lit. When I’m not writing, I’m hanging out with my siblings, crying to sad songs, or curled up in bed with a romance book.

I’m so excited to have you along on this journey although I’m not quite sure where we’re heading, but isn’t that what’s so (terrifyingly) thrilling about it all?

All my love,

Birukti

Fiction writer of Ethiopian main characters and their brown-eyed love interests. When I'm not writing, I'm eating good food, reading good books, and trying (crying) to make sense of my future.
